LTC Releases BEMIS-MC™ Portable, Laser-based Gun Bore Erosion Measurement and Inspection System
In December, 2010, Laser Techniques Company (LTC) released its newest member of the BEMIS™ family of laser-based Bore Erosion Measurement and Inspection Systems. The BEMIS-MC™ a medium caliber, portable, laser-based inspection system. It is a ruggedized field inspection system that can scan a weapon barrel while it is still “on-carriage” and without disassembly or removal of a muzzle brake.
LTC expands BEMIS™ to conduct high-resolution inspections of small and medium diameter pipes and tubes
LTC applies its advanced laser-based inspection technology for pipes with the release of the BEMIS™ Pipe Inspection System. BEMIS™ Pipe is a high-performance laser-based tool capable of rapidly, accurately and quantitatively mapping the internal surface of small and medium diameter pipes. Its flexible and user-friendly control and analysis software provides a wide variety of options for motion control, data acquisition, analysis and display.
LTC develops laser-based inspection system to meet US Army weapon inspection requirements at Yuma Proving Grounds
Laser-based bore mapping technology developed in concert with the US Army Yuma Proving Ground is keeping gun tube testing and evaluation on the cutting edge of measurement and inspection technology. Laser Techniques Company, a Redmond, Washington firm that specializes in advanced laser-based inspection technology, built the Army's first-ever laser-based bore mapping system for .50 caliber gun tubes. It was delivered to Yuma Proving Grounds to benefit YPG, the customer and the Soldier by quickly finding design issues during the early stages of research and development. Today, that system and many others are in use providing high quality data feedback to customers at the proving ground conducting research and development of munitions and weapons systems like the .50 caliber M2 machine gun, the 81mm and 60mm mortars and 155mm towed and self-propelled cannon to name a few.

Laser Techniques Company develops inspection system for Space Shuttle Primary Reaction Control System (PRCS) thrusters
Each space shuttle orbiter has 38 Primary Reaction Control System (PRCS) thrusters to help power and position the vehicle for maneuvers in space, including reentry and establishing earth orbit. Minor flaws in the ceramic lining of a thruster, such as a chip or crack, can cripple the operations of an orbiter in space and jeopardize a mission. The ability to locate, measure, and monitor tiny features in difficult-to-inspect PRCS thrusters improves their overall safety and life-span.
