Sensors

LTC's Laser MicroMap™ systems use one or more of our laser inspection sensors.  We manufacture a variety of standard and custom laser inspection sensors based on our core technologies.  In many cases, our standard designs will satisfy our customers' needs.  However, if a custom sensor is required, we are well-experienced in the cost-effective design and manufacture of unique, high-performance laser-based sensors. Here are examples of standard sensors that we provide. Our sensors fall into one of the following categories:

Fixed Laser Profiling Sensors

These laser triangulation sensors are non-rotating units that are typically mounted to a sensor delivery mechanism such as our 3D Profiler. Typical applications for these sensors include scanning flat plates, large pipes, and complex surfaces.

Rotary Laser Profiling Sensors

These sensors contain a miniature laser triangulation sensor that can rotate 360° for full coverage of the inner surface of tubing. They are typically used in a system such as our Laser MicroMap™ Tube Inspection System.  Typical applications include denting, pitting and ovality measurement in tubes.

Laser Profiling Sensors for Harsh Environments

LTC also packages sensors for use in aqueous or other harsh environments. These sensors may be used with the customer's delivery system, or we can provide a custom sensor delivery mechanism for operation in the environmental conditions specified. We have designed sensors that operate underwater, in vacuum and in the presence of caustic chemicals.

Rotary Laser-Scanned Penetrant Inspection (LSPI™) Sensors

These LSPI™ sensors can rotate 360° for full-coverage inspection of the inner surfaces of tubing.  They may be supplemented by an integrated penetrant delivery system, allowing turn-key remote inspection.  A typical application is the inspection of steam generator tubing for ID cracks.
